Single axle pontoon boat trailer or Dual axle pontoon boat trailer?
Single axle vs. dual axle pontoon boat trailer, several issues come into play.
Dual axle pontoon boat trailers typically cost significantly more than single axle pontoon trailers.
Large or heavy boats or any pontoon boats that are towed a great distance or very frequently would benefit from a dual axle trailer. Dual axle pontoon trailers are less prone to any swaying while towing at highway speeds and are much safer should a single tire fail. They also make for a more stable platform when working on the boat when not attached to a vehicle. Single axle pontoon trailers are fine for small, lighter boats that don’t spend a lot of time being towed at highway speeds. When working on a pontoon boat stored on a single axle trailer and not attached to a vehicle, one must be careful to support the trailer so as not to tip the balance fore or aft of the single axle.
